Hoes, specifically rogue hoes (larger) and hazel hoes (smaller), are hand tools used to shape and clear soil, cut shrubs and weeds, and severe roots. Hoes may come in rounded or squared blades, and some blades can be detached from the wood handle if the blade is raised above the handgrip. They are best operated by forcibly striking the soil with the corner of the blade and dragging the hoe toward the user to dig into the material.
